Project Description

Discovering what’s behind every day’s weather – for this purpose the visitor of the Flash module »ZDF Weather Knowledge« enters the observation room of an imaginary weather station.

Here, the most diverse weather phenomena in all four seasons and specific extreme weather conditions can be observed. Via dynamic flow lines in the panoramas, information on these phenomena (pictures, texts, videos, and animations) can be accessed in the interactive observation window.

Interactive tools delve deeper into special areas, e.g.:

In the tool »Großwetterlagen« (General weather situation) you learn which high and low pressure constellations influence the weather in Europe, and thus also in Germany.

With the »Niederschlag-Simulator« (Precipitation Simulator) you can manipulate weather: by raising or lowering temperature and updraft strength you can create your own weather ranging from sunshine to thunderstorms.

Two further areas complement the info package: in the new ZDF news studio some background information on the weather forecast is provided. Finally, you look down onto the earth from the orbit with the eyes of a weather satellite and recognise global weather correlations.
