Project Description

Re-design of the website for the German-Afghan Initiative, a non-profit organisation based in Freiburg. The organisation works for the peaceful re-building of Afghanistan and focusses its projects on education and development in rural areas: emergency aid, medical aid, child sponsorship, establishing schools and women's centres, village development and many other projects.

The website was implemented in a joint production together with our network partner Alex Wenz (programming).

Tasks

In order to adequately present organisation and projects, a new content structure as well as a reviewed design were necessary: clearly arranged and informative, self-contained, with forms and colours relating to Afghanistan, emotional and positive, activating.

Concept & Implementation

• The warm, earthy basic colours combined with an energetic orange create a link to the region as well as an activating colour effect
• In the top area of the application, people are put in the foreground via a combination of coloured areas, photographs and free graphics – they are presented in a positive, graceful and dignified way: as human beings, not as victims
• The scratches and cracks in the background point out the suffering and the general situation
• As a whole the website is clearly arranged and allows easy maintenance and expansion of contents
