Audio-visual interactive edutainment application around fair trade issues – using the example of cocoa

Concept & Implementation

Everything here deals with fair traded cocoa: the main navigation element is a box of cocoa with a turnable ring.

Using the ring navigation one can switch between four different scenarios. These settings demonstrate the economic circular flow in the (fair) trade of cocoa – from the producer on the plantation in Africa over the processing in the nearby village, the shipping to Europe to the German supermarket.

There are many things to discover in each scenario and various tasks to solve. Accomplished tasks gradually fill the cocoa beans in a learning level display which after all leads to the final test.

The tasks range from simple audio-visual information items over interactive estimation and calculation tools, videos... to various little adventurous games. There is no simple »true« or »false« result in order to sensitise the user for the complexity and the problems concerning fair trade.
