Project Description

As the first cultural path of the region the »Apolloweg« in Valwig near Cochem invites people to get to know more about the close relationship between winegrowing, nature and culture of the Mosel region on an approx. 7.5 km long hiking tour through the place and the vineyards. On different boards along the path visitors will find comprehensive information on the most various topics.

The different boards were created in co-operation with the illustrator Bernhard Speh, who is responsible for the many drawings. The planning bureau Reitz and Partner in Ochtendung was the overall co-ordinator of the project.

Tasks

  • Development of the logo and the overall appearance
  • didactic preparation of the various contents in co-operation with the editorial team
  • Layout and implementation of the various types of boards:

    . boards on specific topics (90 x 60 cm, 30 x 60 cm),
    . object boards (30 x 40 cm),
. sign boards with the course of the path (30 x 40 cm)

  • Supervision of the board´s printing production

Concept & Implementation

  • Logo: stilisation of the Apollo butterfly with the striking red dot on its wings which provided both name and identity
  • Accentuation of the five focal subjects as pictograms
  • The reduced colours convey a cohesive overall image of the various focal subjects and also reduce printing costs
  • Drawings and illustrations with a coloured background have a consistent and memorable style and are matched to the realisation as screen printing on glass

Especially »lekker«

An additional mat finishing by etching of the printed glass boards provides a good readability of the texts, while the respective background is still recognisable through the boards.

Technology

among others screen printing with ceramic colours on Securit glass
